Mother-Daughter Time And Sustainable Style with Nordstrom!

Wear

It’s been a busy month over here on DoSayGive, but possibly the most exciting happening of all was the launch of DSG Girl! I am so excited that you (and your teen and pre-teen daughters!) and loving the tasteful and cute finds over there. Today I am thrilled to be partnering with Nordstrom today to share styles with characteristics young people love: trendy and sustainable

This post is sponsored by Nordstrom. Thanks for supporting the brands I love!

As my oldest daughter continues to grow up, it has becoming increasingly apparent how important one-on-one time is (sans any interruptive siblings!). Having a two year old, I am usually always on alert and admittedly a tad stressed. But when it’s my oldest and me, we can laugh and giggle and really enjoy ourselves because I not worried about Louise running into the street or getting into something she shouldn’t.

I’ve also noticed that our one-on-one time really doesn’t need to be anything extravagant either to be special. A simple trip out for a Saturday afternoon snack gives us time to sit and chat and hear all about what’s happening in her middle school world. (We also talk at night after the other girls go to bed – as tired as I am, I’ve realized it’s worth it to push through my fatigue and have that time with her as well!)

P.S. if you’re local to Dallas, or in the neck of the woods of SMU, one of our favorite places to go for cookies is JD’s Chippery. JD’s has the best old-fashioned vanilla cokes (and diet cokes!).

If you caught my post yesterday, you saw a sneak peak of these fun jeans. I am loving these button-front style from Madewell and – bonus – they are on sale this week! I paired them with this sweater (great for layering!) and Golden Goose for our afternoon out! But these Veja sneakers featured in Nordstrom’s sustainable collection are a bit more budget-friendly. Both moms and teens love these sneakers!

For a tasteful (non-tee shirt!) tween outfit, my daughter paired jeans, this top and classic Birkenstocks. The same jeans come in black too!

I’d love to hear any tips for making intentional one-on-one time happen as our children get older (and busier!)? I’m all ears, comment below!

Also, don’t miss Nordstrom’s surprise sale – we rounded up our favorites here.

  1. I love seeing the two of out and about! As you know, time with each girl is important but becomes even more so as they enter middle and high school. We love to grab teamonade at City Cafe or make a snack run to Trader Joe’s just to have a few minutes to chat. Those minutes you carve out at night become so much more important as they get older as well! Looking forward to time with my oldest when I visit her at college soon!

  2. I agree that 1:1 time is hard to come by with our teens. National Charity League or Teens Give Back are great ways for Mom/Daughter time in the car, while volunteering and after action review on the way home from helping others.
