Today I’m sharing some of my very favorite Advent devotionals and calendars — one of my most treasured Christmas traditions. With many of the normal Christmas activities put on hold this year, perhaps your family has a little more space in your schedule to start a new tradition. One that refocuses your family’s eyes and hearts on the reason we celebrate. We are also sharing some “fun” calendars that are great for gifting!
Advent calendars are so much fun to do with small children as a way to build anticipation for Christmas day, and there are so many great options (including this one my girls love, that ships free with Amazon Prime!). If you have close family friends, nieces and nephews, or grandchildren you won’t be able to celebrate with this year, an Advent calendar would be a fun gift to send to them. What a special way to connect throughout December!
My girls love our Felt Nativity Advent Calendar and take turns every day adding each piece to the Nativity scene. (Full disclosure: there is a little arguing every year over go gets to put on Baby Jesus.) I have shared my family’s advent calendar on here multiple times and it always sells out, so make sure to act fast! It is available with Prime Shipping, too! Here are a few classic Advent calendars to enjoy with your whole family:
I also found some wonderful devotionals for adults (and even a few to do with your children, like the always popular Jesse Tree). I hope these encourage you to find some quiet time during your day to make yourself a cup of coffee or tea, and find rest in these beautiful words! This is also a sweet thing to do virtually with friends or a small group.
Gourmet gifts are great for family friends, neighbors and business associates. These Advent calendars are the best around and can be enjoyed by everyone! Give December 1st so they can enjoy all season long! See my other favorite Gourmet Gifts here.
Over the last few years, I have seen some of my favorite beauty brands introduce their own Advent calendars. These would make great gifts for friends, moms, and sisters. Browse more beauty gifts here.
For a fun toy gift, this Schleich’s 2020 Advent calendar is full of darling farm animals. These animals can be a collectible toy and are in our Yearly Gifts post. Don’t miss their Advent calendar for girl!
I was also so excited to see American Girl come out with a countdown set here. We always make sure to include American Girl items in our Girl’s Gift Guide.

I just ordered the Anthropologie one for my daughter – thank you for the cute options for teens!
I also found a Funko Marvel one for my 10 year old son. We’ve done the Lego ones so many times, I was looking for something new. And for the hubs, Man Crates is doing a Jerky one. 24 days of various flavors of Jerky. It received great reviews last year – so looking forward to seeing if it’s any good! 🙂
