How to Love Our Teachers Well this Season

Give

One of the sweetest things about this time of year is all of the fun festivities that happen at schools. Class parties, seasonal crafts, handmade ornaments, sweet songs learned for a Christmas program — there is something so sweet about it, and we have our teachers to thank for it all! This year many of our children are in virtual school, class parties are children-only, or perhaps our schools are not allowing visitors at this time. But no matter what, there are plenty of ways to make sure teachers feel loved and celebrated and today we are sharing some ideas!

Our Teacher Gift Guide is filled with gift ideas suitable for this unique school year. Today are answering some teacher gifting questions we’ve received this year, and hopefully our answers will help you navigate this unprecedented gifting season with grace and gratitude!

Should I give a gift even if my children are virtual?

Yes! While virtual school presents its own challenges for everyone, teachers work so hard to ensure our children are getting the education they need during this time. So we should still plan on celebrating them and including them in our gift giving this season! Which leads us to…

How do I send a gift if my children are virtual?

Sending an e-gift card would be appropriate this year (and something any teacher would welcome). If you’d rather give a physical gift, you can ask your child’s teacher for his or her address if your school doesn’t have a directory. A lovely class gift idea would be our Gift Card Tree that one parent could plan on dropping off.

What about school administrator gifts?

Don’t forget about the school administrators! They have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to get technology, safety protocols, and more up and running (as well as fielding many questions from parents). A gift would go a long way this year and be so meaningful to them.

How much should I plan to spend?

There is no right amount to spend — do what feels right based on your situation this year. Remember that it isn’t about the cost of the gift, but the heart behind it.

What are some out-of-the-box gift ideas for teachers this year?

We love the idea of sending a teacher a meal! This would be so appreciated over the holidays and such a treat, especially if they have children (or college students!) at home with them. Think about gift cards to meal delivery service, a gourmet pie they can enjoy on Christmas, or some breakfast foods! You can also search our Gourmet Gift Guide for other ideas.

It’s certainly worth going the extra mile to thank the teachers in our lives for working so hard and tirelessly for our children. And that doesn’t have to mean buying an extravagant gift! A handwritten note from you or your child is so personal and something they’ll likely cherish for years to come.
