From Easter brunches to sunrise services at church, egg hunts, and everything in between, there’s something so special about family traditions leading up to Easter. We’ve gathered some activity ideas for making the week of Easter rich in meaning but simple in effort. Maybe one or two of them will inspire and become traditions for your family in the years to come!

If you’ve been following DoSayGive on Instagram since the beginning, you’ve likely seen my annual post with our school bus cake. I’ve been doing this since my oldest went to kindergarten — every year, the night before the first day of school, I make a school bus cake for us to share. It’s something that all of my children look forward to, and it marks the start of a new season.

My college roommate, Megan, once told me that her mom did this for her every year growing up, and I filed the idea away for when I had children of my own.

There are some home items that are timeless heirlooms passed down from generation to generation: China, silver, Christmas dishes and decor. If you (or your mother or grandmother) have an interest in beautiful table settings, then you’re likely aware of the timeless trend of lettuce ware. My grandmother, aunt and mom always collected and displayed lettuce ware, also referred to as cabbage ware. So today I wanted to explore the history of this tradition and share some plates in all price points if you want to start a collection of your own!

There’s certainly nothing that adds a splash of color, a touch of spring, to a table like a lettuce ware bowl or plate.

I love a sweet family tradition so when I discovered Bauble Stockings last January at market I knew I had to share with my readers. If you give gift cards, money, or jewelry at Christmas, definitely read on to see how this can make it even more special. Each one is truly a beautiful heirloom gift!

Needlepoint everything is making a comeback and so it’s no surprise that Bauble Stockings are going to be a popular gift on our gift guide this year.

Over the river and through the woods to grandmother’s house we go on Christmas Day. After opening presents by the fire and delighting in croissants and hot chocolate, our family likes to dress comfortable, yet still festive, for the rest of the day. I found the perfect sweater dress from Anthropologie to wear on Christmas Day that will be even cozier with my Uggs. And, of course, I have to share the sweetest timeless gifts that your little little ones will love opening on the 25th!

Christmas traditions have been on my mind this week as I’ve had time to wind down from the Holiday Gift Guide and spend uninterrupted time with my family. Sometimes as mothers we wonder if all the time and prep work spent on #alltheChristmasthings are worth it. I say: yes, indeed.

When I look back on Christmas as a child, I think of the extended time we spent in Memphis with my grandparents.

We live in a throwaway culture where we buy our children new clothes every season (and simultaneously drop off a garbage bag of outgrown things to the Goodwill). But it hasn’t always been this way. The Victorians repurposed much of their clothing as did many other cultures. Thankfully, not all of that tradition is lost. Today I am delighted to share with you the hand-sewn heirloom creations of Peaches Barnes.

Today, I am excited to partner with a company that is close to my heart. Family Treedition has so many cute ideas for bringing special family traditions into your home. More importantly, their products point us (and our children!) back to the real meanings of the holidays we celebrate.

It’s often the little things about holidays that children remember most. The same ornaments we bring out every year or the same meal we prepare every Christmas dinner.
