There are some things I never leave home without when it comes to traveling with a little one. But when we decided to spend extended time out west I realized I needed a few more baby gear items to make our rental safe and child-friendly for Louise. Today, I’m partnering with Walmart to show you a few of these essential safety items for National Baby Safety Month!
This post is sponsored by Walmart. Thanks for supporting the brands I love!
Whenever we go on vacation with Louise (or any of our babies for that matter!) we have to bring three items for the smoothest transition to a new environment: her Baby Einstein aquarium, her Dohm sound machine, and her favorite blankets.
I’ve written about my love for this aquarium before. It makes a great baby gift and has been a lifesaver through the years. It has helped my babies self soothe when they wake up in the middle of the night and helped them wake up in happy moods. While the aquarium is made for cribs, when we travel we will prop it outside the pack-n-play and turn it on before bedtime.
But we needed a few more items to make our rental toddler-friendly. I ordered a few baby gates for the house with quick delivery (but curbside pickup is also an option). This is the one pictured below and I also got this one.
I also needed a toddler booster seat. This one folds up so it is perfect for car travel and it also comes with a tray for babies. Here are a few other options available at Walmart:
Did you know you can order thicker mattresses for portable cribs? It makes such a difference in her sleep! And well worth it if you are going to be somewhere for an extended period. Also great for grandparents’ houses! Note: for infants, I recommend using the mattress that comes with the travel crib but for toddlers, this is a great option.
One more thing that make the transition easy and fun: her favorite bubble bath! I love the Hello Bello line at Walmart and their bubble bath (I think) is the best on the market and plant-based. Louise has lots of bubble baths at home so of course, this made her feel right at home.
