Hot Holiday Toys: Our Review of 5 Top Toys This Season!

Give

Our Holiday Gift Guide is known for having the best of the best when it comes to toys. In addition to our favorite timeless toys we also research the “hottest” toys of the season to provide the best and most fabulously curated toy selection on the web. My little elves recently helped me review some of the most popular toys for children and all are available at Walmart! Read on for age recommendations, gifting ideas and more!

This post is sponsored by Walmart. Thanks for supporting the brands I love!

My girls were pinching themselves as they got to unbox and try out some of these awesome toys. Walmart makes holiday shopping so easy with their free 2-day shipping or in-store pickup and their huge toy selection and wide range of prices means you can find a great gift at every price-point when shopping at Walmart. Walmart has items marked down all season long and some of these are on sale now- yay! Scroll down to see our top 5 picks!

1.  The Animal, The Interactive Unboxing Toy

If your children like to watch unboxing videos on Youtube they will love this gift. The Animal truck roars and shakes in the box once you turn the key and then you have to yell at it to get it to bust out of the box! Lots of suspense (and laughter!) with the unboxing phase. Once it’s out The Animal can claw and climb all over the place. You can tow other toys or reverse it. Knock it on its side and watch what it does. Very entertaining for a $30 toy! This is best for ages 4 and up and can be used indoors or outdoors.

2. Barbie Food Truck with Multiple Play Areas

Flashback to many years ago when my sister gave my 4 year old daughter a Barbie cruise ship. I rolled my eyes as I thought she’d use it a few times and then be tired of it. Wrong!

That cruise ship yielded years of fun with all its nooks and crannies and little accessories. I’d keep it at the top of the closet and bring it down for playdates and rainy days.

This Barbie Food Truck is along those same lines. It would wow on Christmas morning and can be enjoyed for years to come. The age recommendation is 3+ but my older daughter played with Barbies well through the fourth grade. Talk about a long lasting toy! Ages 3- 8 years.

3. V-Tech KidZoom Creator Cam HD Video

This gift is on our Girls’ Gift Guide but designed for any child ages 5-10. The Creator Cam can take pictures and record video. It’s so easy to use, too. My girls figured out how to use it without me reading the directions. (Yay!)

They loved the special effects options and the selfie mode (just flip the camera up for a selfie!). If your child doesn’t have anything specific on his or her list this Christmas, this gift would be a fun surprise on Christmas morning! My girls highly recommend! Ages 5-10 years.

4. Paw Patrol Dino Rescue

If your child is a Paw Patrol fan (even if they’re not!) they’ll love the sounds and movement of this truck and the included dinosaur! It comes with one pup (Chase) but has room for all the pups if your child collects them. Unlike the Paw Patroller (a top toy a few years ago!) this truck actually moves! It also has projectiles children can use to help rescue! Ages 3-8 years.

5. Ninja Bots Hilarious Battling Robots

I saw these on several top toy review lists (and noticed the raving reviews on Walmart.com) so wanted to try out for DoSayGive’s gift guide. With over 100 sounds and movements this $40 top toy will entertain and incite lots of laughter. Each player trains his bot and helps him reach new levels. The robot winner does a victory dance. My girls said for sure their boy cousins would love this toy. This toy is for ages 6 and up.
