Have you heard? The United States of America is turning 250 this year and that’s reason enough to go all in on red, white, and blue this summer! As always, Do Say Give is here to help get your home and family ready that’s why today we’re sharing some of our favorite patriotic decor for the exterior of your home. The Semiquincentennial deserves a full summer of celebration so decorate for Memorial Day and keep up all summer long!
Some of our favorite brands are pulling out all the stops for 1776 celebrations, including Pottery Barn, Williams-Sonoma, and so many Etsy Shops. For flags, shop Amazon or American-made flag shops like Liberty Flags or Grace Alley.
One thing that surprises a lot of people when it comes to patriotic celebrations: the American flag is not meant to be used as decoration. Draping it over a railing, using it as a table covering, or incorporating it into a vignette as a prop isn’t proper flag etiquette (and is not considered respectful of the flag so many died to protect.)
Instead use red, white, and blue bunting as it gives you all the patriotic look without misusing the flag. We have linked bunting below as well as other darling patriotic decor. Hang an American flag, too, but be sure to do it properly and respectfully as we outlined in this etiquette post!
