In the new year we are going back through the content that resonated the most with our readers when it comes to motherhood. A little tip: your opportunity for “molding” is far greater when children are young and you have TIME with them. Of course you are still molding in the teen years but it is limited and looks a lot different than those early years. You aren’t talking to them all day long so you have to be more strategic with your words and of course listen a lot more.See first post in this series for more on that.

I love giving books for gifts, especially classic ones that stand the test of time. I had a reader email me over the break telling me how much she appreciated our book recommendations on our website. If we allow your children to be mean to one another at home, we cannot be surprised if we find out they are mean to a child at school. If we want them to have polite table manners in public, we must practice at the dinner table.
The best way to teach manners is to practice at home and with siblings. Sibling bickering can wear us all down but it’s so important to not tolerate it and use daily interactions to instill the traits we want our children to have. It can be exhausting sometimes, of course, but it’s worth it. And it creates a foundation of a sweet relationship where hopefully (one day, if not now) they will learn to treasure one another and hold each other in the highest regard.
