Between carpool, after-school activities, events, and meetings, I spend a lot of time in the car. There was a season not too long ago where I found myself constantly needing something — a pen here, a Band-Aid there, an extra thank you note or a gift tag — and running into the store to grab whatever I needed wasn’t always an option. So I finally decided to make a list of what would be helpful for any and every scenario, gathered them together, and now keep them in my console at all times.
Let me tell you: This is a total game changer! It took away a lot of the stress (and, let’s face it, panic at times) that can come with being on the go. It’s so helpful to be prepared in this way, whether you’re in a season of carpool and after-school activities or you have a long work commute. Anything we can do to thoughtfully prepare and minimize stress is a win in my book!
Note: these are things I never take out of my car – this would be in addition to a diaper bag or something that gets taken in and out of the car.

Moms of babies and toddlers, it would be a great idea to keep a small stash of diapers, wipes, and a spare change of clothes in your car, too. But I bet you already do that!
Now, how to keep it all together? I found using clear bags are helpful as you can easily find what you need. Truffle bags, pouches, and cases are perfect for this! My favorite sizes and styles are below, as well as a few dupes that are budget-friendly and just as handy!
What essentials do you keep in your car? Comment below!
I keep scissors, packing tape, and a Sharpie, along with several other items you listed, in my console. Slightly crazy? Maybe, but I cannot count the # of times I’ve used these things!
I know, me too! So helpful with shipping or returning things – or last minute labeling! Glad you liked the post!
