Lovely Intimates In Time For Valentine’s Day

Ooh la la. I found some beautiful (tasteful, don’t worry!) intimates just in time for Valentine’s Day.

This may sound old-fashioned, but I really believe there is something to be said for my grandmother’s advice not to “let yourself go” too much for the sake of your marriage, especially at night. We spend so much time primping ourselves to go out into the world during the day when we see friends, co-workers, etc. Yet we are totally okay wearing ragged t-shirts and worn  Old Navy pajama pants at night when we are with the ones with whom we have chosen to spend our entire lives.

Now I get there is a comfort and acceptance within marriage. My husband loves me for whom I am, not what I look like. But, at the same time, I do believe it is thoughtful to think about how I look at night.

So a few years ago I made a conscious effort to stop wearing ratty pajamas and wear more nightgowns and matching short or pant sets instead. This has been made easier (and fun!) with companies like Anthropologie and Free People. And, honestly, I feel so much better about myself in the morning when I’m making breakfast and getting ready for the day. I don’t feel like a total schlub in front of my children either when I have on pretty pajamas.

Since Valentine’s Day is right around the corner I thought it would be a great time to help my readers freshen up their pajamas and intimates drawer. I think I found something for just about everyone:

Hope you find something lovely!

On another note: the Giclee print at the top is from Laura Row Studio. I randomly came across her work and just loved it. Her Chinoiserie jar watercolors would make beautiful gifts and are not a bad price!
