I don’t know where I first came across her work but as soon as I did I fell in love with Tricia Lowenfield’s European folk style art. That’s why I am thrilled to share about her heirloom gifts today. Tricia Lowenfield is a self-taught artist whose mother encouraged her playful drawings and paintings as a child. Her story reminds me a little of Beatrix Potter whose mother also shunned the idea of formal art lessons in favor of her child’s natural artistic expressions. Fast forward to present day, Tricia uses a variety of art mediums – including watercolors, clay, fabrics, and acrylics – to create the most magical keepsake gifts and books. Her children’s gifts are particularly charming because they perfectly capture the innocent and playful imagination of our sweet children.
I love the idea of a custom birthday plate for a new baby or first birthday gift. A child feel so loved when it is brought out year after year on her birthday. (We start putting birthday plates out the week before a child’s birthday.) I worked with Tricia to design this plate for my cheerful five year old who, for some reason, was the only one in the family without her own birthday plate!
Tricia also designs beautiful custom stationery. Anything from wedding and baby shower invitations to personalized note cards. She can even illustrate a little portrait for the stationery. A set of these gift tags would be such a cute gift!
I love how these coordinating gift stickers turned out. I can’t wait to put on gifts for my daughter’s friends. I won’t need much wrapping because these are so darling! A just keep white bags and boxes and pastel tissue paper and ribbon to easily assemble gifts last minute. Don’t miss the boys’ gift tags, too.
