Heading out of town this holiday season? I’ve teamed up with Nordstrom to put together an easy packing post. It’s almost like a mini capsule wardrobe. So many outfits made with a few key wardrobe pieces – so helpful to me and I hope to you, too! (All above images are clickable).

I am so looking forward to a relaxing Thanksgiving week. My girls are out of school for the entire week (yay!) and we all can’t wait to hang out with cousins and grandparents in Arkansas.
As for packing, well, it’s pretty easy to lay out outfits for my daughters and myself, but my husband not so much. He likes to pack light so this guide helped me really think through what he should bring for five days. (He’s so busy at work this is one small thing I can help him do!).
#1: Thanksgiving or Christmas Dinner Attire
He’ll need:
For Thanksgiving Day, I pulled this Vineyard Vines fall plaid shirt from last week’s post and paired it with a gray v-neck sweater and his gray Bonobos. (His pants are more casual but you could pack dressier pants if you gathering is more formal!).
#2: Dinner out with Family (or Second Thanksgiving Dinner!)
He’ll need:
Both of our families are in Arkansas so we often have two holiday gatherings over the weekend. This outfit offers another sharp, but casual, look for that or going out to dinner. Yes, another button-down, but the black and blue is at least different than the muted colors of the other shirt. The gray sweater makes an appearance again, too. Note: when you are shopping sweaters for your guy, I think gray is a good option because it goes with just about anything. I picked up this under $50 cashmere/cotton blend sweater but Peter Millar makes a great pull-over sweater that would be a fantastic Christmas gift. He’ll need these pieces:
#3: Comfy for Football Watching Clothes!
He’ll need:
A henley is the perfect thing to pair with jeans for casual days – comfy as a tee but just a tad more put together. This striped henley from Nordstrom comes in two colors.
#4: Casual for a Movie or Black Friday Shopping
He’ll need:
A pullover fleece is a great gift and Nordstrom has so many from my husband’s favorite brands like Patagonia, The North Face, and True Grit. He can wear with a plain t-shirt underneath and his boots or sneakers.
#5: An Extra Outfit to Do Just About Anything
He’ll need:
Another way to wear a fleece is with a button-down underneath! This would look good with boots or loafers depending on the day’s agenda. He’ll need these pieces:
#6: Add a Vest for A New Look!
I showed y’all The North Face vest I bought my husband in last week’s post (he also has a gray one). It’s just a good thing to throw in the suitcase because it can really be added to any of the shirt/pant combos above and look like an entirely new outfit. And you don’t have to be all matchy matchy with the vest either. Contrasting colors are good, too! This versatile fall piece also makes a GREAT Christmas gift, which is why I have several linked in DoSayGive’s Gift Guide for Him.
Don’t forget the socks, shoes, and toiletries!
Jack Black toiletries are so popular among men so don’t miss this limited-edition Jack Black travel set ($52) that comes with the travel case. It’s on DoSayGive’s Gifts Guide for Men, too! And the Jet Set pack ($25) makes a great stocking stuffer for guys.
Okay so if you need an actual packing list I’ve listed the items below with links to Nordstrom’s selections. If you are only going out of town for the weekend, you could cut out one button-down and the vest or fleece.
- 1 pair of gray pants (my husband has these pants
- 1 pair of jeans
- 2 button-down shirts (his are here and here)
- 1 gray sweater (my husband has this gray sweater)
- 1 henley tee
- 1 fleece pullover or jacket (my husband has a True Grit)
- 1 pair of boots (my husband has these)
- 1 pair of loafers (similar here)
- Optional: vest (my husband has this black The North Face vest)
- Socks, Underwear, and toiletries, and workout clothes, if needed
I hope this helps you shop and/or pack for your husband or boyfriend. Thanks so much to Nordstrom for sponsoring this fun post. As always all opinions are my own and outfits are styled by me.
