It’s February which means it’s time for DoSayGive’s annual “be lovely at night” post. Now don’t roll your eyes. Read on to see why I think it’s important to have elevated standards for ourselves – day and night!
Every February I write a post encouraging women to “be lovely at night.” A charge to throw out our ratty pajamas pants and replenish our intimates and sleepwear drawers with garments we love and feel good about.
I’ve told this story before but I’ll never forget my husband and I were visiting my grandparents about a year after we were married. One morning I came downstairs in a washed out sorority t-shirt and flannel pajama pants. It was no coincidence that a few days later my grandmother called me and had the “don’t let yourself go” talk. Ha!
At first I was defensive (“he loves me no matter what I wear!”) but I eventually came to agree with the ideals of my grandmother. I believe it’s important for both men and women to make effort to present our best selves to our significant others and keep the flame alive, so to speak. And Vacation Bible School volunteer t-shirts every night just don’t cut it.
So this annual post really has ulterior motives. I need to remind myself to buy “lovely” things to wear at night. And February is a great month to do just that. So whether you like matching short sets, nightgowns, or something a little more alluring, I’ve rounded up some beautiful things below. The lingerie section might be the perfect gift for your hubby on Valentine’s Day!

I look forward to this post every year! Thanks, Lee!
I love this! It’s always my goal and intention to look presentable at home… I watch The Marvelous Mrs Maisel and see the 1950s’ chemises and negligees they wore on an everyday Tuesday night, and while I realize a lot of that is a little much, I see the value in delighting your husband with the catch you are (and feeling affirmed and confident in the catch you are!) by being put-together with that extra effort. My issue is that all my lingerie and matching pajama sets are not remotely comfortable and unfortunately THAT’s what I reach for out of default. I need to invest in some comfortable Pjs and pretty nightgowns! I’ve never had a pair of Lake pajamas but man, do they sound lovely!
love this post! I would love to see a “winter edition” of this sometime. It is easy to find cute nighties for summer but much harder when you need to stay warm
