Did you know that April is Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month? That’s why I want to bring attention to the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center, a national and international leader in the Children’s Advocacy Center movement. And to share a way to support this incredible organization by purchasing this amazing tote!
If you aren’t familiar with Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center’s work, they are a non-profit that provides evidence-based therapy and healing services at no cost to help families overcome the trauma of abuse. Their highly trained staff work to provide justice, hope, and healing for children across Dallas — and they are the only agency of its kind in Dallas County. Last year alone, Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center provided services to a record number of clients, 8,068 in total, both children and their non-offending family members. This alone is heart-breaking.
To help raise awareness for Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month, our friends at Barrington Gifts have created a collection of limited-edition bags and accessories featuring the artwork of artist Donald Robertson with 15% of sales from each purchase going to the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center through the end of April.
If you follow the artist’s pop-esque @drawrobertson Instagram account you will recognize his vibrant, pop art aesthetic. I think it’s the perfect bag for a chic Texan and – even better – it’s a gift that gives back!
This St. Charles Yacht tote would be the perfect weekend bag to take to a lake or ranch house. It holds so much! Think about giving it as a fabulous hostess or client gift filled with wine and other goodies. A great vessel for a Texas themed gift.
The pattern can be used on many of Barrington’s smaller personalized accessories so think graduation or Mothers’ Day gifts.
Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center is also encouraging everyone to participate in their 2021 Pinwheels of Hope campaign by purchasing a yard sign for just $25 here. For every sign purchased, you are helping a child receive critical healing services at Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center. You can purchase and place signs in the yards of all your friends, family, and neighbors and encourage them to do the same! Their goal is to have signs in every neighborhood in Dallas County this April. All proceeds directly benefit the organization.
My heart breaks when I hear the statistics: that child abuse does not discriminate, it doesn’t stop during a pandemic, and that in Dallas County alone a report of abuse is made every 20 minutes. Whether it’s a gift that gives back, a yard sign or your time volunteering, thanks for supporting this wonderful Dallas organization who does so much for our community.
Visit Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center’s website to purchase yard signs, and Barrington Gifts to purchase a tote like this one.
