I am preparing for several “Back to School” themed posts next week, but I had to tell y’all about these new Day Designer by Whitney English calendars at Target in case they sell out. Blue Sky sent me some calendars to try out for y’all so I spent all last weekend getting organized with post it notes and washi tape!
Whitney English Day Designers have been popular among moms and entrepreneurs for several years. She was really one of the first to modernize the day planners (now there are several companies, as you know!). I have never used a Day Designer but I have many friends who are loyal followers and continue to buy one year after year.
Well, Blue Sky, the company that makes a lot of the calendars in the “calendar aisle” at Target, brought Whitney English on board to design a line for them – meaning you get a version of the Day Designer at a much lower price!
A normal Whitney English calendar runs between $57-$59. The Blue Sky Whitney English calendars are all under $20! (Yes, even the hardback black/white stripe ones!).
I had already filled out my day planner from another company but, I have to say, I really liked playing around with the weekly/monthly 8 x 10 Day Designer ($19.99). Seeing the entire week before you is very nice and, with the Day Designer weekly, you can still fill in appointment/meeting times. I also like that there is an inspiration quote and “top 3” things to do each day.
This is what the month pages look like. (I am loving my washi tape to help me visually get an idea of when we are getting overbooked!)
Over the past few months I have been trying to figure out how to best organize my blog posts. Up until this point, I haven’t done much planning. But I realize that – like anything – planning ahead of time is wise and avoids a lot of stress.
But how do I do it? My friend Alicia over at The Lush List blog told me she uses post it notes to plan her posts. So I gave them a whirl on the 8.5 x 11″ Day Designer Planner.
I have to say, I really like this planning method! Now I have the flexibility of being able to change post ideas at the last minute without the annoying pencil markings. This way I can also make sure I have a nice balance of what to say, what to do, and what to give posts. (The mini post-it notes are ideas for Instagram posts!). Even if you aren’t a blogger, you might like this Post It note idea for your business or family calendar!
I am going to keep my blog planner right on my (recently organized!) desk so it’s ready to go when I have a random blog thought or idea!
And here is a fun FREE thing for y’all: Blue Sky’s website has several fun printables! For the soft planners like mine, you can print different patterns for the cover (there’s a cute black and white one!). And there are also fun grocery, travel checklist, and summer bucket list printables.
You can get Day Designers by Whitney English at Target (in store only). But here’s a little tip: If for some reason they sell out at Target – which I am sure they will! – they are all online on Blue Sky’s website!
I am going to give away this pink pocket mini Day Designer (below) to one of my readers. Comment below for a chance to win. Giveaway ends Saturday at 10 pm CST.
Happy Planning!

Thank you Lee! I have been looking for a less expensive yet stylish planner and I think this is perfect!
Ashley
Oh yay!! Please share on Facebook so others know- I had no idea until they reached out to me!!
So cute and amazing price point.
I know, right?? Such a great price for the product!
Great looking planners! I guess I’ll be headed to Target for the fourth time this week. The pink pocket mini would be awesome too! Thanks for the heads up on these.
Yes, you need too! They are really great in person. Not “cheap” at all!
Melenda! You are the winner of the pocket calendar! Please email me your address at lee@dosaygive.com and I will get it to you!
I’m so excited! I have been checking out planners for a while but couldn’t justify spending the $55 dollars some of them cost. I’m a nursing student and the colors are so fun and pretty, adorable! I ran to my target this afternoon but they were already very picked over. I’ll have to check out the website!
I figured they would be picked over bc Whitney English is so popular! But the entire line is on Blue Sky’s website. Just have to pay shipping. Not sure how much it is but surely not very much – a lot less than $55, that’s for sure!! Thanks for commenting!
I love these! While I am trying desperately to switch us over to google calendar, its just so nice to have a hard copy! I don’t think I’ll ever do without one and especially now that I know about these! Thanks Lee. I love your blog 🙂
Well I really like the black and white one I featured today to keep on a desk because you can see the week at a glance and it doesn’t look like a big tetris game like it does on a phone (that stresses me out!). Thanks for commenting!
Thanks for the heads up! I’ve had my eye on these for a while but the price point held me back…!
You are welcome! I know – the planner they sent me really seems to have the same features as the regular ones. With a section for top 3 things to do each day, an evening section to write dinners, an inspirational quote, etc. They have a pretty gold stripe, too!
Even in a digital age, I love a paper planner. These are great!
Me, too!! I did phone calendars for many years but last year went back to a paper calendar…something satisfying about it!
I just bought the 6×8 gold stripe one on Blue Sky! I think it will be just what I need–big enough to see everything and write everything, but also small enough to fit in my purse and keep up with all my to-do’s. It was only $23 with shipping and tax! Not a bad deal!!! Thanks for the tip!
Oh yay! Thanks for taking the time to comment and tell me this. And that is great that shipping is so cheap!! I think it is a great quality for the price. Very detailed.
You show two different planners and I am trying to decide which one to get. What are the differences between the 8x 10 and the 81/2 x 11?
The 8 x 10 is better to carry on in your purse if you prefer to do that. The 8 1/2 x 11 just sits on my desk all the time. The 8 x 10 also has a hard cover. Be sure to read the product descriptions to make sure you get something to meet your needs!
