When I think of Lilly Pulitzer my first impulse is to go for a dress, but this year I bought a pair of shorts and today I am sharing why.

A lot of the style tips I share on DoSayGive are actually things I’ve gleaned from friends much cuter and stylish that me! Over the years I’ve noticed one particular friend who always looks so chic in her Lilly Pulitzer shorts.
When I purchase something that’s a tad pricey I want to be able to wear it often and for multiple years. Lilly shorts are versatile in that you can wear them during the day with flip flops or flat sandals and a tank or tee. And at night you can dress them up with strappy sandals and a silk top or other cute top, like this one! (My friend does this and it looks oh so cute and summery!)
And because Lilly never goes out of style, you can wear these shorts for multiple years. I still have the Lilly pieces I bought when I worked at a Lilly store when I was 22 hoping my girls will enjoy them someday;).
And if you want to be coordinating with your Mini Me, but aren’t ready to go full blown matchy-matchy, shorts are great way to subtly coordinate. A girl’s Lilly Pulitzer shift dress is something that can be worn and passed down to sisters and cousins. See my Instastories from our trip to Historic Hill House last weekend of all my girls wearing shift dresses I’ve bought (or that have been passed down from friends).
P.S. I forgot to bring their Saltwater Sandals on vacation and so my daughter wore these white Natives for everything – to the beach, to dinner, to bike ride. The Maryjane version is so cute and waterproof – the perfect summer shoe for girls.
Here are some more cute Lilly shorts:
These photos were shot in Rosemary Beach. Don’t forget I have a guide to 30A on the blog! It is very extensive!
We kick off DoSayGive’s Classic Children’s Summer Book Club this week! It is definitely not too late to jump in! Check this post out for more details and enjoy your first week of summer!
