Hi Lee, loved your post! I live out of state from all of my side of the family and we are going back in a month…I was going to host my own sort of “Sip and See”…not expecting gifts just purely to meet the baby and I would be providing all food and drinks. You still think this would be guache?! So many family and friends want to meet her and I’ve kept her home till now (4 months), will be 5 months then, so I feel with the pandemic this would be okay…thoughts? 😉

There’s no right answer but for the baby’s protection I would say at least 6-8 weeks. But I am overprotective when it comes to germs!

Traditionally it is just ladies but it can be both!

Obviously since this is a year later, not super helpful but if someone sends me a birth announcement I usually send a gift just because I feel that’s the right thing to do. Every Momma should receive a gift since they brought a new life into the world and that baby deserves to be celebrated somehow. I don’t do it from pressure but it’s how I was raised. It’s the same as a wedding… if I wasn’t invited or if I could not attend (say a long-distance destination wedding, for example) but I receive an announcement, I’d send gift unless it were just an acquaintance and then it’d depend on how I feel about them.
